Celebrating Dr. Dick's Retirement
SEND RETIREMENT GREETINGS to DR. KEN W. DICK
For over 40 years Ken has thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of serving patients at the Britannia Chiropractic Clinic and he will retire on December 17, 2025.
When Ken began his practice, he had a calligrapher paint the following words in large letters in the reception room of the clinic.
“We are here to honour the inborn potential of everyone to be truly healthy. We seek to remove interference so the body can heal itself. We are grateful for the opportunity to witness nature’s miracles and the privilege to serve others”.
Those words still resonate with him today as he is truly grateful for the opportunity to have met over 11,000 patients.
Ken sold almost 5,000 copies of his book, Healing Satori, and is bursting with pride now that he has 2 children continuing his chiropractic legacy. He jokes that he will need at least 2 chiropractors to keep him going in his later years.
He is also relieved to know that he leaves his patients in good hands, in that they are welcome to continue their care with Dr. Patrick Kirkham at the same clinic or with his son, Dr. Matthew Dick who has practiced for 3 years at the Kanata Family Chiropractic Clinic:

Dear Ken
Congratulations on your well deserved retirement!
I am privileged to have known You & worked alongside you for so many years. My Life was enriched by witnessing your tremendous compassion for helping people and your commitment to your profession. Thank you for setting such a principled example everyday. You brought such Joy & positivity to our workdays which grew with the passing of time, what a blessing! I treasure our friendship that developed from it all.
Best Wishes Always,
Michelle xo
Thank you Michelle.. You were the heartbeat of the BCC for over 30 years and the glue that kept it all together. You and Mia were known as the M & M girls and those M’s also stood for the Masters of Multitasking.. I still don’t know how to turn the computer on or book an appointment or to make a deposit at the bank. I may even have to call on you in my retirement when I run out of post-it notes. You welcomed each of the thousands of patients by name even if it had been years since their last visit. You made everyone feel welcome and comfortable which was always the first level of healing. Thank you, thank you. Ken
It was always lovely to see you too on my visits. Stay well!
Thank you Natalie. The feeling is mutual. All the best, Ken
Congrats on your retirement. You’ve made many “adjustments” over the years and now it’s time for a more enjoyable adjustment in your own life. Health, Wealth and Happiness in the years to come! Gerry
Thanks Gerry…and I hope you don’t slow down either. Go Sens Go. Ken

Thanks Ed…you gave me a good example of how to enjoy retirement. Cheers, Ken
When I met you back in 1993, I felt like I was meeting someone famous from a favorite movie of mine; a beloved movie that always left me wondering about that one character. Well, there you were IN REAL LIFE, Dr. Kenneth Weston Dick confirming my suspicions that you were indeed like the character from the movie, having also been raised in a farming community. You totally satisfied my curiosity, providing the answer to my question, “I wonder what would’ve ever happened to that guy?” as well as the answer to that character’s repetitive rhythmic lament, “If I only had a brain…” Wishes were granted, stars aligned, and getting a brain set you, Dr. Ken Wesley Dick, on your life’s mission to help everyone keep that brain body connection turned on to its highest potential through chiropractic. Dr. Ken Wyatt Dick, you upheld your Mennonite roots as your true north so much so that the fax machine was intimidating cutting edge technology for you in the 90’s even though a large percentage of your clientele were employed by Ottawa’s booming tech industry leaders. I know you are more faceted than The Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz with your big brain, you are also like The Tin Man because you also lead your life and life’s mission with your big heart. Every individual that you interacted with, you treated with your head, heart, and hands, always with best intentions and integrity. Dr. Kenneth Wendell Dick I had never met anyone so serious, such an old soul and I quite the opposite, so I thank you for letting me encroach on your life and business for a handful of years. I will be forever grateful. I hope that you are entering retirement feeling stronger than ever in mind and body and are ready to embrace your next chapter. As always, my heartfelt wish for you, may the blue bird of paradise fly up your nose.

I could while away the hours
Conferrin’ with the flowers,
Consulting with the rain;
And my head I’d be a scratchin’
while my thoughts are busy hatchin’
If I only had a brain.
I’d unravel every riddle for my
Individdle
In trouble or in pain
With the thoughts that you’ll be thinkin’
You could be another Lincoln
If I only had a brain.
LOL…what a welcome blast from the past. I fell out of my chair when that blue bird of paradise blew up my nose.. Paula, thanks for the well wishes. You always were one of a kind. I hope you are well and that the blue bird of paradise finds you too. Ken
Hi Dr. Dick,
Congratulations on your retirement!
I’m truly grateful for the positive impact you’ve had on our family, our health and the opportunity to begin my massage therapy practice in your clinic.
Your charisma, integrity, and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on me. I carry many of the lessons I learned from you into my work today.
Wishing you a retirement filled with good health, happiness, and all the time you deserve to enjoy what matters most to you.
All the best,
Wes
Thank you Wesley. I remember checking your spine the week you were born and it was a full circle moment when you came to work in our clinic a couple decades later.. I treasured having that experience.. You are a good man and are making your own mark in healthcare in your own unique way. Keep well.
Congrats Ken on a long and fulfilling career. Enjoy retirement, it’s wonderful!!
Thanks Dr. Nancy…you always give good advice and I will heed your recommendations to enjoy retirement. Cheers, Ken
I can’t really express the feelings I have when I look back on the many years I spent at BCC. You inspired me every day in a field unknown to me. You lead by example of kindness, empathy and compassion for everyone who came in the door, (with or without an appointment)! You healed so many people in the community who appreciated your healing hands and went on to better health.
Enjoy your retirement playing golf, making cocktails and enjoying your amazing family!
I loved working at BCC, you set a high bar and we just followed by your example. What an experience, I’ll never forget!
Mia xo
Thank you Mia…and you also had the nickname of being the ageless “Everready Battery”. You had no time to slow down in a very busy practice. I never saw you rattled. You handled the pace with ease. Regards, Ken
I was privileged to be a classmate of Ken’s at CMCC. He was always smiling, had a kind word for everyone. And a great hockey player. Since we were both in the “D”‘s, Ken and I were often in the same technique group or lab group; Ken was a helpful, easy-going guy who put everyone at ease. I am proud to call him friend and colleague! Enjoy your well-earned retirement my friend!
Thank you Marshall. Those were the good old days and the days just got better with our profession and we have valuable memories.. Thank you for your commitment to our profession with your radiology expertise…you have a gift to make this dry subject entertaining for the rest of us. Regards,
Ken
Hi Ken, from “Little Rick to Big .( …. Ken )”‘.
